The organisers of the 6th edition of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) say in a statement it received a record-breaking entry of 8,157 songs/videos on its online portal for considerations.
The deadline for submission was closed at 1159 hour (WAT) on Friday, 2 August 2019 after the submission portall was opened on 15 May. The number of submissions exceeded that of 2018 by 148 entries.
Of the 8,157 entries submitted this year, Western Africa leads the pack with 38% of the total entries followed by Southern Africa with 24%. Eastern Africa, Central Africa and Northern Africa have 20%, 14% and 4% respectively.
With the end of submissions, the project now enters the next stage, where the 13-man International Jury will screen and sort through the entries. This will take place in Lagos from 7th to 13th August 2019.
At the conclusion of the screening, the 6th AFRIMA Nominees’ List would be unveiled during a World Media Conference scheduled for Wednesday, August 14 at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the award ceremony is scheduled to hold from 6th to 9th November 2019.
