Watch Jidenna’s powerful trailer for upcoming 2nd album 85 To Africa, here on Sidomex

In the trailer for his upcoming album sophomore album, Jidenna tells an emotive story of how he suddenly found himself homeless in the summer of 2017 after he was evicted without warning.

Unbeknownst to Jidenna, the home’s owner had been grievously delinquent on mortgage payments and had lost the house in a foreclosure auction. As movers dumped his possessions into boxes, the home’s new residents watched from the sidelines and smiled at his misfortune.  Reflecting on the moment that would ultimately set the stage for his remarkable new album, 85 to Africa, says the description of the trailer uploaded on YouTube.

And with his world tour just about to take off, Jidenna decided to hit the road and not return to the United States for the meantime.

And needing a place to call his own, the singer hopped on a plane and found himself in Africa via the I-85. “We had no where to come home,” he says, “so we ended up going back to Africa.

After the emotive story, the trailer shows cuts to music videos for the album’s two lead singles, Tribe and Sufi Woman.

Inspired by this unplanned and unanticipated global traverse, 85 To Africa promises to guide us through Jidenna’s experiences and mindsets in the two years since his displacement.

The album is set to drop on 23 August 2019
