Burna Boy’s Own It single hits platinum in the UK

The self-appointed African Giant and newly self-proclaimed best Nigerian musician since Fela, Burna Boy, has hit Platinum with his single, Own It.

Following Burna’s loss at the Grammys to Angelique Kidjo and his loss at the BRIT Awards 2020 to American rapper Tyler the Creator, Burna still won as his single, Own It hits Platinum in the UK.

That means that the single has sold at least 600,000 copies in the UK since its release. Burna Boy took to his Twitter account to post pictures of himself being handed a platinum plaque.

Recently, the Afro-fusion lord took to his Twitter account to proclaim himself as the best singer after Fela and Nigerians came at him. Not minding the commotion that his declarations had caused, he still went ahead to state plainly that nobody paved the way for him.

Well, I think we can now all see some hints of truth in his declarations. Burna was awarded a Platinum plaque as his single had sold over 600,000 copies in the UK.

Nigerian music seems to be doing well abroad. Just recently, Davido’s album, A Good Time, was certified Platinum after it sold more than a million copies.

Congratulations, Burna, keep winning.
