Following the news of Nigeria recording new cases of the Coronavirus, the Federal Government has ordered the closure of all tertiary institutions and the 104 unity schools in the country by Thursday, March 26, 2020.
This measure taken by the government is a proactive step intended to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
The minister of education, Adamu Adamu, through the permanent secretary, Sonny Echono, said all the heads of the institutions, principals of the unity colleges should fast track the on-going second term examinations and close until further notice.
A released statement revealed that the management of all the unity colleges are to immediately provide the necessary emergency procedures and processes such as alcohol-based sanitizers and handwashing facilities.
Also, students are advised to strictly adhere to the principles and best practices of good hygiene.
Adamu directed the principals to immediately report any suspicious case to the nearest health authorities, emphasising that nothing should be taken for granted at this delicate time of the global pandemic.
