The Lagos state government ministry of health has confirmed another four new cases of Coronavirus, after the five cases that were announced yesterday by the Federal Ministry of Health.
The news of the five new cases was announced by the official Twitter account of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday 18th March 2020.
And now, the commissioner for health in Lagos state, Professor Akin Abayomi, has taken to his official Twitter handle to announce the four new cases.
“Breaking! #COVID19Lagos
“19 suspected cases and contacts of the new cases announced yesterday were tested and 4 turned out positive for #COVID19,” the commissioner tweets using his Twitter handle.
According to Professor Abayomi, 19 people were tested for the novel Coronavirus and the test came out positive for four people.
One of the four people was a woman who had contact with the woman who came from the UK some days ago that tested positive to Covid-19. Another was a woman who came in from France on the 14th of March 2020 via Turkish airline.
The third case was a man who had not been abroad but tested positive to the virus. He is in his 50s, while the fourth person is a man who came to Lagos from Frankfurt on the 13th of March via a Lufthansa flight.
While Nigerians are also urged to remain calm, a hotline has already been made available for reporting cases.
The commissioner also stated that more tests are being carried out, stating that the best way to slow transmission is to stop person-to-person transmission.
Over 1,300 people are being monitored regarding the state of their health, and “the number is increasing,” the commissioner says.
