BREAKING: Ministry of Health directs AMVCA attendees to self-isolate after exposure to Coronavirus

It all started when a WhatsApp chat started going around between a man and his friend who was refusing to self isolate after showing symptoms of the Coronavirus.

The chats sent people into panic as they tried to wonder who it could be, especially when it emerged that the person in question had attended the AMVCA which was held on 14 March.

Following this news, some celebrities like Denola Grey, Banky Wellington, and Adesua Etomi went into self-isolation in order to protect the public from the virus.

Now, the Lagos State Ministry of Health has announced that all attendees at the AMVCA should go into isolation effective immediately.

“#COVID19 Lagos Alert! I hereby notify you that all participants at the African Magic viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) held on14th March at @EkoHotels may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and are most likely to have been exposed to #COVID19 Infection.

“Attendees at the said event are therefo advised to: observe strict self- isolation. call our #TollFree line 08000corona if they notice any of the #COVID19 related symptoms. Let’s #TakeResponsibility by practicing #SocialDistancing to prevent the spread of the virus.”

This is to curtail the spread of the virus of which Nigeria has already recorded 42 cases so far with one death. Worldwide, the virus has killed more than 10 thousand people since it was first discovered in Wuhan, China.

So far, several high ranking figures in Nigeria have tested positive for the virus, including the son of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and the current chief of staff, Abba Kyari.
