Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on media, Mukhtar Gidado, revealed that Muhammed had tested positive for the virus after being tested alongside five people.
The news was released in a press statement that was shared on social media on 24 March.
The Governor had earlier admitted that he met with and shook hands with the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar’s son, who tested positive for the Coronavirus on Sunday.
While the virus only started spreading in Nigeria recently, it originated in China and has been public knowledge since at least January.
There have been more than 300 thousand confirmed cases of the Coronavirus worldwide, with 17 thousand people dying from the disease.
Italy has been the worst-hit country and has recorded more than six thousand deaths so far due to the Coronavirus disease.
While Nigeria has not recorded as many cases, safety measures are being put in place to stop the spread of the virus. So far, 42 cases have been confirmed, two have recovered, and one Coronavirus-related death has been recorded.
Because of this, land borders have been closed, airports across the country have been shut down and states are now enforcing lockdown in order to stop the spread.
As we continue to acquire information on this virus, it is important to stay calm and practice safety measures to stay protected from the Coronavirus.
