Samsung showed off the foldable phone during the annual developers’ conference in San Fransisco. In a brief demo, Samsung showed how the as yet unnamed phone will work.
The demo showed the phone switching from a wider screen to a smaller pocket sized screen and showed how apps adapted to the change. The company has revealed that the phone uses and Infinity Flex Display.
The 7.3 inch tablet like phone folds into a smaller pocket phone. While one screen is being used, the other will go to sleep, according to reports.
Google is also on board, it has announced. The company will develop android software for the phone that will help with seamless use. Also, up to three apps will be displayed simultaneously on the bigger screen.
An exciting new information is the fact that a new user interface is being developed for the pocket screen called One UI. It is being developed to support one handed use.
“Now the upper part of the screen is for viewing while the lower part is for touch and traction. One UI places everything you need to see where it’s easy to reach,” said Jee Won Lee, Senior Designer of UX Design at Samsung.
