The annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival scheduled for April 2021 has been officially cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Organisers, Goldenvoice, are yet to announce the new date.
Coachella is not alone, Stagecoach Music Festival 2021 (also organised by Goldenvoice) has been cancelled as well. While Goldenvoice has not issued an official statement on this recent cancellation, Dr Cameron Kaiser, the public health officer for Riverside County where both festivals were to be held confirmed it.
He tweeted:
Due to the pandemic, Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser today (Jan. 29) signed a public health order canceling Coachella Valley Music and Arts, Stagecoach Country Music festivals planned for April 2021. We look forward to when the events may return. https://t.co/YAIn8uTea9

He further mentioned that ‘these festivals’ make it difficult to track infections if a single case is reported among attendees because of its large audience.
This makes it the third time that Coachella has been moved since the coronavirus pandemic struck. Goldenvoice originally rescheduled the event for April 2020 before then moving it to October 2020 and most recently to April 2021.
Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine were booked to headline the festival that usually draws over 200,000+ attendees from all over the world. It is not clear yet if the headliners will change or not.
Bye Coachella, you will be missed.
