Wizkid has won the NAACP Image Awards a second consecutive time for the video of “Brown Skin Girl” after winning it in 2020 for the same song. The video had also earned the Nigerian superstar his first-ever Grammy win as well.
The 52nd NAACP Image Awards began live-streaming its untelevised categories on 22 March and it will end on 26 March before the televised categories will air on 27 March 2021.
Under the Recording category, “Brown Skin Girl” beat Beyoncé’s “Black Is King”, “Anything For You” by Ledisi, “I Can’t Breathe” by H.E.R., and Chloe x Halle’s “Do It” to the Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album award. The win also recognises other artists on the project like Beyoncé, Saint Jhn and Blue Ivy Carter.

Drake won the Outstanding Male Artist award ahead of Big Sean, Black Thought, Charlie Wilson and John legend while Beyoncé won the female version of the award. Jhené Aiko’s “Chilombo” won Outstanding Album and Doja Cat was awarded as the Outstanding New Artist for her “Say So” song.
The NAACP Image Award is an annual awards ceremony presented by the U.S.-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to honour outstanding performances in film, television, music, and literature.
