Tiger Woods‘ agent, Mark Steinberg, has described the latest documentary by HBO on the legendary athlete as “unauthorized and salacious” even as the streaming platform looks to release the second instalment of the ‘two-part’ documentary.
Tiger Woods’ camp released a scathing statement lambasting HBO on Sunday, 10 January describing the new release from the streaming platform as an incomplete depiction of one of the greatest players golf has ever seen.
He said, “the upcoming HBO documentary is just another unauthorized and salacious outsider attempt to paint an incomplete portrait of one of the greatest athletes of all-time.” He also condemned not just the documentary but the book it was adapted from as well.
The documentary was adapted from a book titled “Tiger”, written by Armen Keteyian and Jeff Benedict in 2018. Keteyian also gets credit for the HBO documentary as an executive producer.
Tiger Woods’ team had condemned the book when it was released in 2018 as it exposed the personal life of the professional golfer without consent from the athlete.

While the HBO “Tiger” documentary borrows a leaf from the book, it also revealed some fascinating facts. For example, it showed that Tiger Woods was a child prodigy in golf at the age of two.
The documentary also stated that his father, Earl, had mandated that he played only golf. Apparently, Earl even ‘shot down’ any suggestion that his son should try out another sport. This was why by the time Tiger Woods turned 18, his US Amateurs triumph in 1994 had already been broadcasted by ESPN.
The second part of the documentary billed to be released may take a deeper look into some less ‘popular’ aspects of Tiger Woods’ life. Here is how HBO describes the documentary:
“Tiger highlights never-before-seen-footage and interviews with those who know Tiger Woods best […] and Rachel Uchitel, the woman at the center of the sex scandal that forever altered Tiger’s world, breaking her silence for the first time.”
