Several people have suggested variations for top-level management with the hopes that they see it and act on it. Thankfully, they did see all the clamouring for an edit button.
Sadly, there won’t be an edit button. Like, ever.
During a video Q&A session with Wired, Jack Dorsey was asked if Twitter would get an edit button in 2020, and replied: “The answer is no.”
He went further to explain that Twitter started as an SMS like app, and they want to preserve the vibe. He also explained that the edit button may not be a good reason after all, because it can be easily manipulated.
He said: “You might send a tweet and then someone might retweet that, and then an hour later you completely change the content of that tweet…The person that retweeted the original tweet is now retweeting and rebroadcasting something completely different.”
