Surprise surprise!
Regina King is being considered to helm the new Superman movie, and she doesn’t even know about it. According to theGrio, the Oscar-winning actress, who debuted as a director last year with the critically acclaimed film “One Night in Miami”, had no idea she was being considered for this new gig.
She in fact seemed to have only learnt about this on Saturday while on the MSNBC’s show, Cross Connection. Regina was visibly shocked when the show host Tiffany Cross mentioned that she was being considered to direct the movie.
In the interview, Tiffany referred to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, where Regina King was mentioned as one of those being eyed to helm the upcoming Black Superman film. According to the report, Warner Bros. wants it to have an original “Black perspective”.

“I’m curious because there’s a little bit of gossip. You’re rumored to be on the short list to direct ‘Superman’. You and Barry Jenkins, both of your names have been thrown out there. Anything you want to tell us? Is there any news you can break this morning about those conversations?” said Tiffany.
Surprised, Regina replied: “Tiffany, that is news to me. You have broken the news to me. News break! Live on MSNBC!” She later added, still in shock, “Yeah, no, I have not heard that until just now. Oh wow.”.
Film enthusiasts and lovers of the art will not be surprised by any of these anyway, as King’s directorial debut already showed her quality. She is gradually becoming well sort after, and the sky certainly is just the beginning.
