The Lil Nas X inspired ‘Satan Shoes’ has been recalled and fans who purchased it would get a refund after Nike won its lawsuit against MSCHF Product Studio following the launch of the sneakers.
Nike filed a trademark infringement lawsuit nad MSCHF has been ordered to buy back all 666 pairs to remove them from circulation.
The alleged Satan shoes which were said to contain a drop of human blood sold for $1018, a reference to a bible verse that tells a tale of Satan’s banishment, Luke 10:18 from heaven. it also had an inverted cross on it as well as a bronze pentagram.
Nike also wants refunds to be offered to those who purchased the Jesus shoes, launched in 2019 by MSCHF which was also based on the Air Max 97.
In a statement published, Nike said: “Nike had nothing to do with the Satan Shoes or the Jesus Shoes,”
“If any purchasers were confused, or if they otherwise want to return their shoes, they may do so for a full refund. Purchasers who choose not to return their shoes and later encounter a product issue, defect, or health concern should contact MSCHF, not Nike.”
Shoes like these which are limited in edition usually become collector items and their value can reach many times more than the original price on the second-hand market.
David Bernstein who was MSCHF representative said that Nike’s lawsuit “dramatically amplified” the artistic messages MSCHF hoped the shoes would convey.
He said: “MSCHF intended to comment on the absurdity of the collaboration culture practiced by some brands, and about the perniciousness of intolerance.
“Having achieved its artistic purpose, MSCHF is pleased to have resolved the lawsuit.”
Sue those demons!
