Tems has dropped her sophomore EP “If Orange Was A Place” in anticipation of her debut album in 2021, you can download, stream and listen to it here.
If anyone had an eventful period between EPs, it will be the Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi. Following her first EP, “For Broken Ears”, in September 2020, Openiyi has been in the news for both career and controversial reasons.
With her project’s lead single “Damages” towing the path of her 2019 track “Try Me”, the singer showed she is no fluke. In fact, critics laud the entire “For Broken Ears” EP. Then, when many believed that she was done, Tems hopped on Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” album and they delivered a masterpiece through the single “Essence“.
The song’s success has been well documented in our biography of the Afrobeats singer here. However, that was not all that the Alternative singer was going to be known for in 2020.
Things nearly took an ugly turn after she and her Nigerian colleague, Omah Lay, were arrested and detained in Uganda for allegedly violating COVID-19 regulations during a live performance in December 2020. They both got released unscathed.

More recently, Tems had also gotten a feature on the “Certified Lover Boy” album by Drake, on the track “Fountains”. And, she is taking full advantage of the momentum.
Days ago, she debuted “Crazy Tings” and today she has released her second EP “If Orange Was A Place“. The extended play project features five tracks namely:
All the tracks were written and vocalised by the singer herself and she enlisted the services of Guilty Beatz and Jonah Christian for production. Meanwhile, homegrown producer Spax (of SDC’s Palmwine Music 1 and 2) mixed and mastered all the tracks.
In a short statement aimed at describing where the inspiration for the project came from, the singer wrote: “Orange is a vibe—a place where everything is warm and sweet.”
The EP was released under THE LEADING VIBE LTD. It appears that it is her self-owned record label, although, some sources cite that she is still under a contract with RCA. You may also like to read our latest article, VMAs 2021: Top ten fashion moments from the event.
