Taylor Swift will receive the Global Icon prize at the BRITs as the first woman to be awarded as well as the first non-English artist to win the award.
The award ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 11 at London’s O2 Arena where she would be honored. The event would be the first major indoor music event to take place in the UK since the pandemic began.
Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016), and Robbie Williams (2017) are the only recipients of the award so far.
The honour would be bestowed in recognition of her immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date.
We're excited to announce that @taylorswift13 will be presented with the BRITs Global Icon award this year!! ?

Taylor Swift is also nominated for international female solo artist, an award she won in 2015. She alongside four other American artists — Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, and Miley Cyrus would be competing for the prize and she could leave the ceremony with two awards if she is victorious.
Swift bagged her seventh UK number one song for her song Fearless (Taylor’s Version) last month, and it was also her third chart-topping record in less than a year.
She is also the only female artist in the 21st Century to have seven number-one studio albums on the UK’s official albums chart.
The British singer is also the U.K.’s top-selling artist of 2021 to date, a remarkable feat for an artist 15 years into her career.
She gave her fans a surprise gift during the lockdown in 2020 by releasing both folklore and evermore, with both albums featuring a more relaxed, country sound as opposed to the cheesy pop 2019’s Lover is known for.
More women are also well represented in this year’s BRIT Awards as they dominate the nominations list, especially in the album category, with Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa, Celeste, and Jessie Ware all in the running against rapper J Hus.
Also, about 4,000 people will be allowed inside The O2 Arena for the ceremony as part of a pilot events scheme launched by the government, with no masks or social distancing necessary.
Miss Swift for the Swifties!
Big congratultions to Taylor Swift
