The Cavemen is a Lagos based ‘Afrocentric influenced’ band that combines Afrobeat, jazz, soul, and highlife music to create a sensational sound. It was founded by Kingsley Okorie and his brother. Benjamin James. They call the music genre they do the Highlife Fusion.
The Cavemen is a new-age leader of highlife music, which has a solid and rich root in the history of African and especially Nigerian music. And on the 22nd of August 2020, the talented duo dropped their debut album titled “Roots” by the Cavemen.
The album comprises 16 tracks and its worth every second if you are a fan of good music. It was borne out of the desire to create magic and how they used to know it growing up.
The music band brings sounds known from the past and propels it into the future, acting as a connection between generations.
The album “Roots” is a spirited depiction of the band’s approach to life, love, and everything they encounter along the way.
The sound of the album forges the legacy of their tradition and ancestry, exploring the beauty in the Nigerian and African culture. It is a total exploration of highlife with each track containing something new for listeners to take away.
