Very few rappers in the Nigerian music scene thread the path of classic rap these days with Trap, Emo Rap, Drill, and Grime all finding roots in the Hip-hop scene.
One rapper, however, who has refused to dance to the tunes of the current trend is Payper Corleone. The rapper has been on the rise since 2014 and more than six years later, he still won’t go ‘commercial’ as classic rap seems to be his passion and domain.
Payper released a 15-track album titled “In Don We Trust” on 19 January 2021, another proof of his unwavering dedication to his classic act.
The album features mainly rappers such as Vector, Sinzu, Hotyce, Cheque, Don Skosiz, Iceberg Slim, Wuka, Tetta, and TJK. Production was handled by Othello Beats, Tribe Vegas, Chief Timz, Chris Rich, Babylu, Scrilla, Hotboi, Enoask, Filip Sing, and Jahlil Beats.
