Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter Drake has been honoured with the ‘Artist of the Decade’ award by Billboard, and he will get his prize during the Billboard Music Awards on 23 May 2021.
Billboard announced it on Tuesday, coinciding with Drake’s dinner with ‘very special guest’ Ronald Isley.
Ronald Isley is Drake’s idol and a founding member of The Isley Brothers. Drake wouldn’t have planned a better day than Tuesday.

Drake’s emphatic dominance of the charts in the 2010s has given him the edge over others, and he has been named for the ultimate prize.

The multi-award-winning rapper’s discography is somewhat influenced by Isley.
On Drake’s 2009 debut EP So Far Gone, he and Lil Wayne rapped over Jay-Z’s “Ignorant Sh–” instrumental which was a sample of the Isley Brothers 1983 track “Between the Sheets.
He’s also tweaked the famous 1994 Aaliyah’s Isley Brothers cover “(At Your Best) You Are Love” to suit his collaboration with Jeezy on the 2010 album “Thank Me Later”.
Drake currently holds the crown for most Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) with 27, winning 12 prizes in 2019. He will receive the Artist of the Decade Award as a result.
At this year’s show, Drake made it to the final cut in seven categories, including the top artist award. The event will air on Sunday, 23 May.
