Giannis Antetokounmpo’s meeting with Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry last Friday to discuss the team’s future and their disappointing end to the 2019-20 season seems to have borne good fruits, according to reports.
During the meeting, Lasry assured Giannis that the Bucks will be willing to spend into the luxury tax during the offseason to bolster the supporting cast around the reigning NBA MVP, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The two sides are also expected to meet again later this offseason.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, last week, unfollowed the Bucks team and his teammates on Twitter and Instagram after they were eliminated from the postseason by the Miami Heat team after five games.
Antetokoumnpo who have only a year removed from the free agency has made it clear that, at this point, his intention isn’t to leave after the meeting spurred rumours that he was going to leave the Bucks.

He also vigorously denied that he would force a trade after Game 5. “It’s not happening. That’s not happening.”
“Some see a wall and go in [another direction]. I plough through it. We just have to get better as a team, individually, and get right back at it next season.”
He tells reporters after Milwaukee’s Game 5 loss: “At the end of the day, we’ve got to learn from everything that goes on in your life and in your career and hopefully we can learn from this and get better as a team and come back and hopefully we can build a culture in Milwaukee for many years that we can come out here and compete every single year for a championship.”
The Bucks will be able to offer Antetokounmpo a five-year, supermax contract in the neighbourhood of $221 million this offseason, and even if he declines, reports have stated that Milwaukee would not consider trading him.
