Premier League defending champions, Liverpool, are finally closing in on a deal to sign Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara whom they have ignited interest in since the beginning of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are said to have put in a bid of £27m to sign the Champions League winner from Bayern Munich.
Thiago, 29, left Barcelona in 2013 to join the German giants and played in last season’s Champions League final victory over Paris St-Germain.
Talks are believed to be ongoing between Liverpool and Bayern over the player, whose current contract expires in a year.
Should the deal be completed, Thiago would become Liverpool’s second summer signing, after the Reds earlier captured Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

A week ago, Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, when asked about the potentials of Thiago joining Liverpool said: “I cannot end speculation as long as the transfer window is open. Did I mention that Thiago Alcantara is a really good player? A long time ago.
“It is nice that we are linked with him but that is pretty much it really. It is because he is a good player and Liverpool is a big club, so that is nice.”
Thiago, as well as the Champions League, has won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles, four German Cups, and the Club World Cup with Bayern.
