Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian striker, Erling Braut Haaland has officially been named the best under-21 player across Europe’s top divisions after clinching the 2020 Golden Boy award.
The 20-year-old, who has scored 27 goals in 29 appearances since arriving at the Signa Iduna Park last summer won the prestigious award ahead of fellow youngsters; Ansu Fati of Barcelona and Spain, and reigning Bundesliga Rookie of year awardee, Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich and Canada.
Haaland succeeds Atletico Madrid’s Portuguese forward, Joao Felix, who won the 2019 edition of the award.
Fellow Borussia Dortmund player, Jadon Sancho, as well as Manchester United striker, Mason Greenwood, were also nominated for the award but it is the big Norwegian who has come out as the winner.
Haaland moved to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2019 after a host of impressive performances for Salzburg, both in the Typico Bundesliga and the Champions League where he scored against eventual winners Liverpool.
