Diego Maradona leaves hospital after successful brain surgery operation

Diego Maradona has finally been discharged from a Buenos Aires hospital on Wednesday, and will continue his recovery in a private home. It has been over a week since his successful brain surgery.

The former World Cup winner was captured in a footage broadcast by local TV stations, which showed Maradona leaving the Olivos clinic in an ambulance.

His doctor, Leopoldo Luque, also told journalists that he had authorised the release for the Argentine legend.

Matias Morla, Maradona’s lawyer, also said that Diego’s treatment for alcohol dependency will continue and that he is expected to stay in a house near his older daughters.

The 1986 World Cup winner had an emergency operation for a subdural hematoma last week that was caused by an accumulation of blood between a membrane and his brain.

On Tuesday, Maradona’s personal doctor, Neurologist Leopoldo Luque,  said that even small amounts of alcohol consumption could have negative effects combined with the medication needed for his recovery and warned against it as it seems the former Boca Juniors, Barcelona, and Napoli star has had addiction problems in the past.

Morla admitted that the surgery on the ex-footballer may have been his toughest ever moment.

“It could have taken his life,” the lawyer said.

What he misses now is the union of his family, being surrounded by health professionals.

The Argentine legend’s lawyer Morla also advised friends and relatives of the former footballer to desist from posting negative messages about each other on social media, saying the infighting is affecting the Argentina legend.

“The situation here is clear – being at peace with the relatives,” Morla said.

“They have to respect each other, coordinate the visits among themselves because in this case Diego has to recover. One has to give him peace and give him unity.”

The 60-year-old was initially admitted to another clinic in La Plata with signs of depression, anemia, and dehydration, before being transferred elsewhere after the subdural hematoma was discovered.

Dr. Luque claims an accident was the likely cause of the subdural hematoma but that Maradona could not recall any falls or mishaps.
