New Line Cinema has put together a team for the fifth instalment of Sam Raimi’s “The Evil Dead” franchise, which will be titled “Evil Dead: Rise”. It will be available for streaming on HBO Max.
From its 1981 first release, down to sequels, a reboot, a TV series, video games and even comic books, the film has earned the right to be called a cult classic. Bruce Campbell will not be starring in the film after he led the first three instalments and also starred in the TV series “Ash vs Evil Dead” from 2015 to 2018.
For the coming release, Campbell, who had played the iconic character of Ash Williams, will serve as executive producer along with longtime friend Raimi. With the director busy with “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, he picked Lee Cronin to helm affairs.

Cronin had proved his worth in the 2019 horror film “The Hole in the Ground”. Meanwhile, Alyssa Sutherland (known as Aslaug in the “Vikings” television series) and Lily Sullivan (known as Coral in the 2012 film “Mental”) have been cast in the film.
For now, “Evil Dead: Rise” has no release date yet. However, Screen Rant writer Dan Zinski says that the two lead characters will act as ‘sisters battling demons in a high-rise building’. This revelation means that “Evil Dead: Rise” will be Evil Dead part 4 as it follows the events after 1992 “Army of Darkness”, leaving behind the cabin in the woods narrative.
The last release from this franchise was an underwhelming 2013 attempt at a reboot of the first film, titled “Evil Dead”. You may also like to read our recent article Grammys: More rule changes affecting Album of the Year and three more fields announced.
