It may be too early for Wonder Woman 1984 reviews but the first wave of reactions are pouring out on social media already.
Wonder Woman 1984 (stylised as WW84) was one of the most anticipated films of 2020 after its 2017 prequel whetted appetites. It had been scheduled for December 2019 and then even moved up to November 2019.
However, the release date for Wonder Woman 1984 was later fixed for March 2020 but the pandemic restrictions and closed theatres made this impossible.
After its release in cinemas on 16 December 2020, it was later available for streaming on HBO Max in the US on 25 December 2020. The same day, the film was showing at Dolby Cinema and IMAX in Canada and the US.
Now, two days later, after quite a horde of fans have seen it, we are getting the first set of reactions to Wonder Woman 1984.
On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 65% based on 284 reviews, with an average rating of 6.30/10.
Metacritic, assigned Wonder Woman 1984 an average score of 59 out of 100, based on 55 critics; thus, indicating “mixed or average reviews”.

Can we talk about Gal Gadot’s wardrobe in #WonderWoman1984 like I was truly feeling these looks pic.twitter.com/50Uh4fEsHO

I think we need to remember that people have different opinions about films. As I said, I didn’t enjoy #WonderWoman1984, but people did.
In recent years films such as Venom, Captain Marvel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Aquaman had similar debates. pic.twitter.com/rNp8L2N04g

After #WonderWoman1984 #Mulan and #BirdsOfPrey worried re future of female directors on blockbusters
Each time = fundamental lack of understanding what audiences want in a blockbuster
Hopefully #BlackWidow & #Eternals don’t do same, & #CaptainMarvel2 director is seeing this… pic.twitter.com/nXV2sYYOL0

#WonderWoman1984 is a complete cheese & cringe inducing mess throughout its overlong 150 minute runtime. The few action scenes there are contain FX that are LAUGHABLE – which took me out of the film on multiple occasions. Where the hell did the budget go? It all feels cheap.(1/3) pic.twitter.com/gJ0FKuDLj7
