Nathalie Emmanuel, who played Missandei in the Game of Thrones series, says the nude scenes she acted in created a wrong impression.
The series had two things in abundance: violence and nudity. Add that to its sometimes strong language and use of profanity. The show was anything but modest. Many fans must’ve wondered how the actors managed to pull it off.
Well, for the most part, we know it had to be part of their contracts. They knew what they signed up for. That, however, has not been without its consequences, as British actor Nathalie Emmanuel, who played the role of Missandei, would have us know.
Nathalie, who had her fair share of nude scenes, has opened up about the effect the job has had on her career. According to MovieWeb, she did this while talking about her latest film, “F9” or “Fast and Furious 9”, on the Josh Smith podcast “Make It Reign”.
“When I did Game of Thrones, I agreed toward certain nude scenes or nudity within the show… And the perception from other projects, when the role required nudity, was that I was just open to [doing] anything because I did it on that one show,” she said.
The actress continued, “what people didn’t realize is I agreed [to] terms and specific things for that one particular project, and that doesn’t necessarily apply to all projects.”

“I’ve had people challenge me and be like, ‘But this part requires that,’ and I said, ‘That’s fine if you require that in the part; I don’t feel comfortable doing that level of nudity. I will do this amount, you know, I can do this, which I think is necessary for the part,” she added.
It would appear that Nathalie is not the only GOT alumnus experiencing this. Emilia Clarke, who starred as Daenerys Targaryen, expressed something similar in an interview on Dax Shepherd’s podcast.
“I’m a lot more savvy now with what I’m comfortable with, and what I am okay with doing. I have had fights onset before when I am like, ‘No, sheet stays up.’ And they are like ‘You don’t want to disappoint your Game of Thrones fans.’ And I’m like ‘F**k you,'” Clarke says.
It will be interesting to hear from more cast members about their experiences. Maybe one or two male casts. One thing is for sure, the echoes of the show will last a while before dying down. Hopefully, it doesn’t hamper the budding careers of its graduates.
