Since her death in 2001, her music has been missing from streaming platforms everywhere. This is not to say that all of her music is not available for streaming, however.
Her debut alum, ‘Age is Nothing But A Number’, which was released in 1994 is widely available across the major streaming platforms.
The majority of her later work, including the 1996 follow-up, ‘One in a Million’ and her 2001 self-titled album, have been held back by the R&B icon’s estate.
Now, it appears that things are about to change. her estate shared an update on her Instagram page that the remainder of Aaliyah’s work will soon be released on major streaming platforms.
They wrote: “We are excited to announce that communication has commenced between the estate and various record labels about the status of Aaliyah’s music catalogue [sic], as well as its availability on streaming platforms in the near future. Thank you for your continued love and support. More updated to come!”

Her catalogue has been under the supervision of Aaliyah’s uncle and manager of Blackground Records, Barry Hankerson. There doesn’t seem to be any real reason why Hankerson, who groomed Aaliyah for music from a young age, failed to release her work.
Nonetheless, it is definitely wonderful news that her work will soon be widely available.
