Come 23 July 2020, Netflix will begin showing “The Last Letter from Your Lover”, a romantic drama film based on a novel of the same name by Jojo Moyes. Here is why this film will set the tone for a romantic summer this year.
From her breakout role as Amy Juergens in the ABC Family drama series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” to her film debut in “The Descendants” and her romance role in “The Spectacular Now”, Shailene Woodley stands as a romantic icon for GenZ viewers. Her teenaged cancer patient role in the romantic drama “The Fault in Our Stars” took her reputation a notch higher. Her chemistry with male characters starring opposite her has earned her praise and 35 major acting awards.
However, she is far from being a one-trick pony as her role in the science-fiction action film series “The Divergent” showed.

Woodley is starring as Callum Turner’s lover in a 1960s star-crossed affair on this Summer release with Felicity Jones playing a young journalist following the lovers through a series of love letters in the present day. If there is ever a doubt about Jones’ ability, all you need to do is see her in “The Theory of Everything” and understand why she got a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Actress nomination for her performance.
Diana Kent and Ben Cross also star in the film as the older versions of Woodley and Turner’s characters.
This Summer, get ready to cosy up to “The Last Letter from Your Lover” with your loved one … or a bowl of ice cream. After its United States release, SVENSK will show it in Scandinavia on 30 July, and StudioCanal will release it in the UK on 6 August.
