As part of precautions to protect nominees from COVID-19 infections, the 2021 Oscars will not have a host according to the latest details from producers. Instead, it will be held as a partially in-person live telecast event with high profile presenters giving out the awards “on a rotating basis”.
Steven Soderbergh, Jesse Collins and Stacey Sher will serve as the producers of this unique Oscars ceremony. They have already begun making offers to recruit “talent they hope will come in to present the categories”.
It is not clear yet why nominees are not allowed to join via video link like other award ceremonies have been doing but the producers have made it clear that there is no option to join remotely. They only explained that they “feel the virtual thing will diminish [their] efforts.”

However, they tried to reassure would-be guests that they have gone to great lengths in putting health safety measures in place.
“We are treating the event as an active movie set, with specially designed testing cadences to ensure up-to-the-minute results, including an on-site COVID safety team with PCR testing capability,” they said in a letter to nominees.
In addition, winners are advised to keep their speeches short but make them as personal as they can. Also, the organisers planned a pre-show gathering in the Union Station courtyard to take place immediately before the ceremony.
Attendance is restricted to only nominees, their guest and the presenters. Casual outfits will not be permitted as well as they added the dress code to their letter;
“You’re wondering about the Dress Code (as well you should). We’re aiming for a fusion of Inspirational and Aspirational, which in actual words means formal is totally cool if you want to go there, but casual is really not.”
Oh really I wonder how it will be at the end of the day
This will be so strange. I can’t wait to see how they will pull it off.
Let’s see how this goes
