Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter backs Justin Bieber’s “Justice” album amidst backlash

American singer Justin Bieber faced backlash for using clips of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches on his “Justice” album but Bernie King, the icon’s daughter, has backed the project.

Justin Bieber released his latest project, “Justice”, on 19 March 2021 and it features Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, Chance The Rapper, The Kid LAROI, Khalid, Dominic Fike, Daniel Caesar, Giveon, and BEAM.

While there have been several positive reactions to the album, the singer has also had to face criticism. Many of these are based on the fact that he named the album “Justice” and used many MLK speeches soundbites when the album was not about treating injustice but more about his marriage to Hailey and love.

However, while his songs may not have been about human rights and justice, Bieber did mention that he will donate to social justice organisations like The King Center in honour of the album’s release. He also puts out a call to action for others to join in:
