Zaynab-Otiti Obanor, ex-wife of Ooni Ife endowed with Humanitarian Award

Obanor shared the exciting news with fans on her official Instagram account today.
“Her Highness Queen Zaynab awarded ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ by Kechie’s Project during UN Week in New York, for her outstanding contributions to women and children across the globe.

Accepting the award, the former Wuraola said, “I accept this award for women, home and abroad- who refuse to be tamed and live their life unapologetically and get up after every stumble.
“You will fall. You will fail. You will be Ridiculed and you will be shamed.
“For choosing the road less traveled. For choosing the path to liberation. For choosing to rise above. 
“For choosing to walk away from abuse of any kind. It is not an easy path. I’m here with you in prayer and in spirit.”

Also awarded at the event were CNN anchor, Don Lemon; and former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Recall that the former Wuruola recently released an official statement stating that she and her ex-husband, the Ooni of Ife are separated. She also stated that she would continue with humanitarian efforts of helping those in  abusive relationships. Later reports indicated that her family has returned her bride price to Ooni an action that officially signaled the end of the marriage.
