Sophie Stevenson, 24, had coupled up with Jesse Mateman, 21, after meeting him on holiday in Barcelona and says she had arranged to fly 400 miles from her home in Stoke to meet him. However, when she got to the airport she claims she was left stranded and then six hours later was sent a message telling her she had been “pigged“. Sophie, who had paid £350 for the flight, was left in tears but says she was promptly blocked from messaging him on social media and hasn’t spoken to him since. She told The Sun that she was so devastated that she changed her flights and came home the next morning.
She explained: “Pulling a pig is where a guy tries to pull the fat, ugly girl. I felt sick.” Her mother, Julie, told the MailOnline that her daughter “was in bits” after returning home. “It is a good job this lad lives in Holland because if he was here I’d string him up,” she said. “He would call her every day and Sophie was so excited and would go off and take the call. “He said he wanted to come and visit her in Manchester and was planning a visit. He then said he could not wait and asked if Sophie would come over to Amsterdam. Sophie said as she was getting on the plane he was calling her and telling her he couldn’t wait to meet her at the hotel.”
“It just shows you the lengths he was going to to make a fool of my daughter.”
Jesse, 21, who is believed to be from Doetinchem in the Netherlands is yet to comment on why he allegedly went to such lengths to humiliate Sophie. Sophie had met Jesse and his three friends at their hotel, which had been placed on lockdown after the Barcelona terror attack. The pair continued to talk after the trip and even talked about starting a long-distance relationship. But when she landed Sophie said she could not get hold of Jesse and was eventually messaged six hours later when he sent the taunting messages over Snapchat.
