The Nigeria Center for disease control (NCDC), has taken to its official Twitter handle to announce that Nigeria has recorded its first death from the coronavirus.
“The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded,” NCDC tweets on their official Twitter handle. According to the centre, the deceased is a 67-year-old male and a UK returnee.
“ The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in UK. He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy. Our thoughts are with his family,” NCDC tweets.
However, according to the Guardian newspaper, the deceased person was Suleiman Achimugu, a former managing director of Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC).
The NCDC also informed Nigerians about the new cases confirmed. Total cases confirmed in Nigeria has increased to 36 as Lagos state has recorded a total of 25 cases.
