People make work resolutions, life resolutions, relationship resolutions, and what have you. The list is almost endless.
The reason for this is that as the year comes to a close, people feel a certain pressure to try to steer the path of their lives, which of course, is important and wise. But many forget that simply writing down resolutions will never do the job.
You cannot just write things down and expect that those things will magically come to pass.
Today’s motivation quote for this Monday, which happens to be the last of the year 2019, is from Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America, who was born poor, but through the power of his hard work, rose through the ranks to become the president in 1809.
So, if there’s anybody who knows about the power of setting goals and achieving them, it is Abraham Lincoln.
Here’s the quote for the day: Always bear in mind that your resolution to succeed is more important than any other – Abraham Lincoln.
What does this say? It simply means that you should make sure that despite all the lists that you’re making, you need to make sure to actually follow up on these lists or they will get you nowhere.
You should understand that making lists is good. Making new year resolutions is wonderful. For many people, it provides the direction that they need to actually achieve their goals.
But making empty resolutions is not going to help you, whether now, going into the new year or halfway into it if you don’t put in the effort and do the work.
Remember that success is not in the making of the lists but in the doing of the things that will get you to where you need to be.
Your resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing in your list, so maybe, while you’re making your new year resolutions, you can add at the bottom of the list: succeed at new year resolution. Then go out and do the work.
