The All India Institute of Medical Science hospital reported how 40 doctors working together with other paramedical staffs that also included 20 nurses conducted a 36 hour long surgery to separate two year-old twins that were joined at the skull.
The hospital that is run by the Government in the City of New Delhi hosted the surgical process of the twins that were born in a village in India and had undergone the first part of the surgical process in August before the marathon surgery that finalized the outstanding feat.
One of the surgeons that worked on the team mentioned that after the separation came the most difficult task, which is to close up the large holes that were left after the process.
He explains that an expandable balloon was placed inside the head to cover the opening that revealed the brain matter and the plastic surgeon added that the next step was to reconstruct their skull.
