On Saturday 7th November 2020, congratulations poured in for Joe Biden who had changed his Twitter profile to reflect his new status, ‘President-Elect’. Kamala Harris also changed hers to ‘Vice President-Elect’.
The duo did this after many news outlets in the US including the Associated Press (AP), CNN and others, declared them winners of the 2020 Presidential election.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had defeated Donald Trump and Mike Pence, halting their re-election to serve another term at the White House. However, while the reputable news houses are already calling Biden the winner, President Trump has not conceded defeat at the time of writing this.
Biden had crossed the 270 electoral vote mark needed to win the election (notching up 290) at this time. Four days after the election held on Tuesday, 3rd November 2020, Biden claimed a decisive victory by winning the majority of votes in Pennsylvania.
Ignoring what the President and his supporters are saying about the results; many notable Americans and figures around the world are already congratulating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
