Mark Zuckerberg takes responsibility for Facebook privacy scandals, says it was his mistake and he’ll do better

During the series of inquisition at the ongoing two-day congress CEO Mark Zuckerberg has taken responsibility for the privacy scandal and assured US lawmakers that Facebook will do better.

Following revelations that Cambridge Analytica, a data-mining firm affiliated with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, gathered personal information on about 87 million Facebook users to try to influence elections, Mark Zuckerberg has been seen testifying before a House panel.

He had apologised many times, to users and the public, but it is the first time in his career that he has gone before the Congress.

In the hearings, Zuckerberg says Facebook failed to protect users’ privacy. And that the slow response to Russia’s election interference is one of his “greatest regrets.”

He also says that the company is cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation – Muller is investigating alleged Russia interference with the US presidential election and whether the then Donald Trump colluded with Russia.

Zuckerberg also says most users probably don’t read the terms of service. And that he’s open to “the right regulation.” TBD what that means.
