Videos being shared on social media show that the fire has gutted a section of the popular Balogun market in Lagos.
The fire can be seen engulfing parts of the building with thick black smoke rising into the air.
According to Punch, men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency were deployed to put out the fire, but by this morning, the fire is still reportedly raging on.
This is terrible news for both traders and buyers alike as some traders have lost goods bought especially for the celebratory season in preparation for the hordes of buyers who rush to the market to make their purchases.
This is coming weeks after similar fires in other parts of the country.
