Optimal Cancer Care, located at 118 Bode Thomas St, Surulere, Lagos is offering free breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings for women on Fridays 8 am to 5 pm. The clinic is founded by Dr Femi Olaleye.
Kate Henshaw is on board this service.
We really appreciate Kate’s commitment to promoting women and children’s wellbeing. This is despite the fact that her good intentions and actions are sometimes misconstrued and misinterpreted.
See her Instagram message promoting the free cancer screenings.
About 10,000 cancer deaths are recorded annually in Nigeria, while new cases are about 250,000. Breast and cervical cancers have the highest incidence, while prostate cancer is the commonest cancer type in men. If you recall, former Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Minister of Information and Communications, Prof Dora Akunyili was a victim of cancer.
According to WHO, cancer treatment is more effective if cases are detected and treated early. Consequently, we laud this initiative of Cancer Optimal Care to offer free screening to women on the two commonest cancer types affecting women.
More information on cancer can be found on the Nigeria Cancer Society website.
