Good morning and happy start to a new week. It is Sunday and I came across 7 tips that can help people get closer to God. Many see Him as ‘too Mighty’ to get close to ‘we’ humans, but the tips below will hopefully help reshape your thinking. Besides, God wants us to get closer to him.

Each of the tips is based on a portion of the Bible.

Joshua 1:8 “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” – New Living Translation.

The first tip is the most obvious; we get to bridge the imaginary gap between us and God by examining his book.

Nehemiah 8:8 “They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.” – English Standard Version.

This point encourages us to try and understand what we are reading; it crushes the myth of ‘we should not understand God’. Though his ways are higher than ours, he gave us the Bible in our tongue for easier comprehension, give it a try.

Psalm 1:1-3 “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.” – New American Standard Bible.

Our steps should be ordered by the admonitions from the Bible and not the ‘carefree’ lifestyle prevalent today.

Acts 8: 30,31 “So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah out loud. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you’re reading? The man replied, “How can I unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to get in and sit with him.” – International Standard Version.

It is not out of place to seek help in understanding the Bible, we pray for the Holy Spirit to be given us and also ask mature Christians with exemplary lifestyles.

Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” – New American Standard Bible.

There are lot of things creations can teach about God, each little or mighty thing in existence should have a lesson on one or more of the attributes of the everlasting father.

Hebrews 10:24,25 “Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.” – New Heart English Bible.

It is vital to spiritual health to stay close to those that will keep us strong in faith and love.

James 1:5 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.” – World English Bible.

The power of prayer can never be underestimated, prayer should become an habit if we are to keep our relationship with God.
