The LAGBUS was headed for Lagos from Sango in Ogun State, but had not moved very far before it was waved to a stop by group of people who pretended to be trying board the bus. Immediately the bus halted, the hoodlums who numbered up to 30 rushed on-board wielding various kinds of weapons.
A victim of the attack mentioned that one of the assailants had a gun while others had cutlasses and knives.
They successfully robbed the passengers of their phones, wristwatches, money and other valuables before the conductor –who had already been dispossessed of her own properties- escaped and ran into the streets and raised awareness about the ongoing operation.
A mob quickly formed and fell on the predators that fled but left three among them behind to the mercy of the angry mob that showed none. They beat them before the police came to take them into custody and still have them behind bars.
The incident was reported to have happened on Sunday, and while the Police Public Relations Officer has confirmed the story, the LAGBUS Public Affairs Officer claims to have heard nothing of the incident.
