The Catalan Club has stated that they will be joining the protest with a strike today after police violence leave many wounded on Sunday at an independence referendum.
“None of the professional or the youth teams at FC Barcelona will train tomorrow” the club’s spokesperson announced yesterday. “We join the country wide strike called for by the Table for Democracy and therefore the club will be closed” he added.
The incident had led Barcelona to host Las Palmas in a closed door match on Sunday after the police had clashed with the crowd at a polling station and left at least 92 people injured.
Gerard Pique who has been outspoken about the right for the Catalans to ascertain themselves also condemned the incident in another report.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Barcelona will leave the Spanish La Liga if Catalonia should go their separate ways successfully and may join the Premier League.
