Don’t just keep beards, care for them

Being a member of the beards gang is more than just growing or keeping beards, Once you have grown your beards, you need to manage and care for it properly so that it can look very healthy.

Maintenance of the beard should not take a lot from you that’s why we have you covered. Here are 5 easy ways to maintain and care for your beard.

  1. Wash your beard with a natural shampoo for men. Make sure to wash your beard with natural men’s shampoo at least 3 times a week, this will keep your beard clean, help it smell great, and prevent any sweat, dust or oil from building up. There’s no need to spend money on a special beard shampoo, as there is really no need to have so many chemicals around your mouth.
  2. Keep your beard hydrated and conditioned. We don’t want our beards looking like harmattan itself. All you need to do to your beard for it to maintain its shine is to use a beard oil. Beard oil does more than make the beard shine, it also keeps the skin under your beard hydrated and rids it of flakes, itchiness and maintains follicle health. Get a few drops of beard oil, massage into your palm and gently apply into your beard. Do this at least once a day in dry weather conditions and 2-3times a week in more humid climates, and remember that your beard is as healthy as the skin underneath it.
  3. Trim your beard. Trimming is a very essential part of the beard care, it defines your beard, making it look well kept and healthy. Scissors are better trimmers than the actual trimmers. The reason is that trimmers tend to create split ends, unlike scissors that help fine-tune your beard shape. It is advised that once in 2 weeks you look in the mirror, take scissors and trim uneven patches, maintaining the original contour of your face. Use a comb to comb out your beard so that split ends can be revealed.
  4. Trim your neckline. This should be the one place you can use a trimmer. We suggest that you trim this part at least once in 2 weeks. To do this, take two fingers and put them on your Adam’s apple, the top finger is where you should aim for your beard to be. There is no need to follow your natural jaw line, it makes your neckline look weak and your beard awkward.
  5. Stay healthy. Most of the parts of your body, your beard, hair, and skin are direct reflections of your inner health. If you want and desire a thick, healthy beard, you need to exercise, eat well, sleep well and limit your alcohol intake.
