The NCDC confirmed that the country has recorded 64 new cases of the deadly virus, taking the total number of infected people to 1337.
The 64 cases were recorded in five states in the country, which are Lagos, Borno, Abuja, Taraba, and Gombe. Testing has only just resumed in Kano after a shortage of testing kits was reported in the state.
Lagos has the highest number of infected people with 34 cases, while Abuja recorded 15 cases. Borno, Taraba, and Gombe state recorded 11, two, and two cases respectively.
These new cases have now taken the total number of infected people in Nigeria to 1337 with 255 discharged and 40 deaths.

One case which was previously reported as a Lagos State case has been transferred to Abuja. This brings the total number of cases in Lagos State to 764 with 157 cases in Abuja.
This is coming after President Buhari announced that the total lockdown in effect in Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun state will be gradually lifted from 4 May 2020.
So far, COVID-19 patients have been recorded in 32 out of the 36 states of the country, including Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Borno, Gombe, Ogun, Osun, Katsina, and Edo State, which have the highest numbers of infected people in the country.
