A 300 level student of Benue State University, Makurdi, Dooshima Aondaver Moses sneaked out of her own wedding to take an exam that she revealed to PUNCH reporters to be International Economics.
In the interview with the newspaper, the student of Economics department made it known that it was not an act to garner attention or create a scene but the act was made necessary by situations beyond her control. She said the date (October 7) for the wedding was fixed already before the exam time table was released.
Relating the events surrounding the incident, she explained that the internal strikes had first given her assurance that the wedding will be done with before the academic sessions resumed and the ASUU strike action also boosted the assurance before it was cut short unexpectedly. Her complains to the department was not enough to cause any adjustment in the timetable as it was already official and the wedding date could not be changed because many from as far as Lagos and Abuja already arranged their affairs to be there and she couldn’t disappoint them, so she, her husband and others including the officiating priest and chairman of the occasion agreed to rush the ceremony and allow her sneak out of the reception with most of the bridal train ladies who were her course mates.
She said she was determined not to fail the course and did everything possible including somehow mashing up wedding arrangements and examination reading.
No be small thing. Good luck to her.
