Janet Jackson’s career collection goes on auction as Kim Kardashian splurges $25k on “If” outfit

American singer, songwriter, and dancer Janet Jackson who celebrated her birthday on 16 May had a few to-do’s checked off her list as some of her collections from her old music videos were auctioned for sales.

In a three-day auction by Julien’s Auction, the outfit she wore for the video to ‘Scream’ by her brother, Michael Jackson, went for a whopping $125,000.

Also, TV star Kim Kardashian got her hands on a custom-made top and pants worn by Jackson in her 1993 ‘If’ video for $25,000 to celebrate the icon’s birthday.

Janet Jackson in partnership with Julien’s Auctions put up more than 1,000 items from her career and personal treasures for sale. The auction went live in Beverly Hills, California, and was also shown on Julien’s website.

Janet Jackson also revealed that a portion of the proceeds will go to charity, Compassion International to be precise, so as to help as many children as possible escape from poverty.

Kim had revealed this on her Instagram Story on Sunday while wishing the music icon a Happy Birthday celebration.

She wrote, “For @janetjackson’s bday bc I’m such a fan I can’t believe I won this outfit on @juliens_auctions“.

Jackson also responded in an Instagram video of her own showing gratitude for the gesture from the KUWTK star.

Other items that were auctioned during the sale include Helen Storey’s designed floor-length metallic silver coat with lambskin shearling lining. It was said to have sold for $50,000.

Also, the silver string bikini along with a pair of matching pants worn underneath the coat by Janet Jackson sold for $25,600.

On Friday when the sales started, the original jacket from Jackson’s 1990 Rhythm Nation Tour along with a black “1814” cap and black satin gloves with metal plaque decoration went for $81,250.

The silver-tone hoop earring that had a suspended key which she wore during the 1987 Soul Train Awards and her Rhythm Nation Tour sold for $43,750.

Janet isn’t the only Jackson who has had items auctioned recently, her late brother and pop icon, Michael Jackson, also had statues from his Neverland Ranch auctioned a few weeks ago.
