Bill Gates affair with Microsoft staff and Jeffrey Epstein friendship casts long shadow

Amidst the divorce between Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, other aspects of his personal life including an affair with a Microsoft staff and friendship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have come under scrutiny.

It suddenly appears that Bill Gates is not beyond reproach after all. Media houses are turning out reports that further show him in a bad light. His troubles with the media started with the divorce announcement.

Since then, other things have arisen. First, there were claims that the tech billionaire’s decision to step down from the Microsoft board was not due to his desire to focus more on his philanthropic duties. Instead, the insinuation is that the co-founder did so because of an investigation into his past.

The Wall Street Journal mentioned that Bill gates left the company while the board looked into a relationship he had with one staff back in 2000. While a family spokesperson confirmed that the affair did happen and ended about 20 years ago, other sources claim that the billionaire ‘pursued’ female staff and made the working environment uncomfortable for them. They claimed it happened at both Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Then, there is The New York Times report that Bill Gates and Jeffrey Epstein met many times despite the latter pleading guilty to approaching a minor for prostitution. His wife at the time, Melinda Gates, was allegedly displeased with the ‘friendship’.

In both instances, the Gates’ spokesperson denied any wrongdoing. “The claim of mistreatment of employees is also false,” the spokesperson said of the inappropriate affairs with staff. Then, of the friendship with Epstein, “[Gates] had absolutely no business partnership or personal friendship with Epstein … [he] never socialized with Epstein or attended parties with him,” the spokesperson refuted.

It is not just the media criticising Bill Gates, social media users are not happy with the recent developments.
