‘Framing Britney Spears’ documentary made the supestar singer cry for two weeks

Britney Spears has revealed that the ‘Framing Britney Spears’ documentary by New York Times made her cry for two weeks. Her response comes over a month after the 74 minutes video aired.

Samantha Stark directed the documentary television film for The New York Times Presents, an American narrative investigative journalism docuseries covering topical news and cultural stories. Jason Stallman, Sam Dolnick, and Stephanie Priess were all credited as producers.

Framing Britney Spears centres on the singer’s career and her popularity within American culture. It also provides insight into the conservatorship that she has been under since 2008. The documentary had gotten positive reviews from a film perspective but from a public viewpoint, it has been described as ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘difficult to watch’ by many. It also led to a “We are sorry Britney” trend on Twitter as well.

Breaking her silence, the singer herself admitted that she never watched the full film but have seen parts of it. “I was embarrassed by the light they put me in … I cried for two weeks and well … I still cry sometimes,” Britney Spears said.

Her opening statement in the Instagram post decried how she felt the media always ‘speculated’ her life while she revealed how she felt constantly watched, judged, and insulted. See the full post below:

The singer is not the only celebrity that feels like this towards a documentary about their life. Recently, Tiger Woods’ agent also kicked against an HBO documentary on the golf icon as well.
