It seems like some of our Nollywood actors and actresses were not happy with the turn of events at the recently concluded African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) 2020 as a number of complaints about the award ceremony have surfaced.
AMVCA is one of the prestigious award ceremonies in Africa that has a number of our screen kings and queens anticipating its arrival. And the same was the case for this year’s AMVCA ceremony, which held Saturday night, 14 March 2020.
Since the award ceremony, a number of complaints have surfaced, one of which was from Nigerian actress, Lisa Omorodion, who decried the fact that no plus-size woman made the list of the best dressed at the award.
Now, Nigerian actor Zubby Michael has reservations as well. His beef seems to be related to the winners at the award ceremony, which he hinted was tribalised. According to Zubby, the award was “highly political”
“Some things are unchangeable, example, can you change your biological father? That award was a joke and mightly political, ndi ala ndi ala (mad people, mad people). We know we are great without the awards. Do you know the meaning of viewers choice?, ” Zubby rants in a comment of Instagram, which he then shared on his timeline.
The actor also went ahead to state that he was sure that most of the organisers of the award are Yorubas.
