Wimbledon 2017 Men Single Semifinalists

This year’s Wimbledon has seen some outstanding performances and new age records set in the championship. What with Venus Williams reaching the finals at age 37 and seven-time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer playing in the semi-finals at age 35 sinceKen Rosewall in 1974. Surely, age is just a number? If Williams wins the Women Singles category (to be played on Saturday), she would be the oldest woman to do so in the open era. Her sister Venus Williams is currently the oldest woman to win the championship in this era.

According to the Guardian UK, “The combination of Federer, Tomáš Berdych, 31, Marin ?ili?, 28, and Sam Querrey, 29, means the average age of the tournament’s male semi-finalists has increased to 31 years and 213 days, beating the previous record set in 1970 of 30 years and 319 days.”

Meanwhile, the Men Singles’ finals will take place Sunday 16th, but who among the four semifinalists will play on the Centre Court that day? Here is a list of the contenders and their path to victory.

The first semifinal will be played out between American Sam Querrey and Croatian Marin Cilic, while favourite to win the competition Swiss Roger Federer will be playing against Czech Tomas Berdych in the second semifinal Friday.
